Hey, great to have you here.
Let me introduce you to Digital Realms.
First off, hey — thanks for visiting. This is the first ever post on Digital Realms; my newsletter focused on gaming, tech, the metaverse, and everything in between.
If you don’t know me, I’m Devon Thome. I co-founded a metaverse development studio in 2017 and have been building social gaming experiences since I was still in grade school.
Before you ask: I’m not here to sales pitch you; I’m not going to add a plug to get your world built at the bottom of every email; I’m not going to link to the studio. (if you know, you know!). Cold linking isn’t my thing, anyway.
I always had a passion for gaming, and I knew I wanted to have a place in it — I didn’t know what it was. My bread and butter for the 2010s was running Minecraft servers. Big ones. The experiences we built touched millions, and I still get tweets and emails to this day about the nostalgia we created and how wonderful they were to be a part of. Now, my big focus is on Roblox — the platform that your kids probably spend too much time, and too much of your money on
I’ve been grappling with the idea of making a newsletter for a while now. It feels like it’s one of those things almost everybody does — like a podcast, but the time feels right. I feel like I can bring a great perspective.
Much of the commentary I see on the space is speculative. Third-party. People are skeptical. They see NFTs, new coins, rug pulls, headlines on how VR/XR/AR will change the world — and so much more. And it’s a lot. It’s hard to make sense of it all. But, as someone that is building in the industry full-time, daily, and is living and breathing all things metaverse, I feel like I can shed a good bit of insight.
Whether it’s a new platform that seems promising or a crazy change that’s making literal waves — I’ll be here to share what I find.
Let’s explore together.
